Custom Curved Steel Staircase Installation
Russell Custom Design designed and installed a custom curved steel staircase for a modern residential interior. Before fabrication began, we developed a detailed visualization to confirm the staircase geometry, proportions, materials, and connection points. After approval, the design was released for production. The steel structure was fabricated and installed to follow the curved architectural layout while creating a strong, precise foundation for the finished treads and railing system.
The challenge
The staircase had to follow a complex curved path within a double-height interior surrounded by large floor-to-ceiling windows. The main challenge was achieving accurate geometry, consistent tread positioning, structural rigidity, and clean alignment with the upper and lower floors while coordinating the staircase with the surrounding architectural finishes.
The design solution
We developed the staircase geometry through detailed measurements and visualization before production. The custom curved steel structure was then fabricated and installed with careful control of the radius, elevation, tread spacing, and connection points. Temporary wood tread substrates were fitted to prepare the staircase for its final finish. This process created a stable, accurately aligned structure ready for the completed tread and railing installation.
